Autumn Term 2017 NEWSLETTER No. 1
New School Year 2017-18
It has certainly been an eventful week for both school and community: we had our section 8 Ofsted inspection on Tuesday – thank you to all parents who took the time to engage with the Parentview survey; and the other good news was that the Chislehurst Society have bought the Commons from the previous absentee landlord http://chislehurstcommons.uk/news/commons-sold/
Church and community
Our next whole school family service is our Harvest Festival all family and friends welcome at the Methodist Church, Prince Imperial Road at 2pm on Friday 29th September – children to be collected from the church to go home after the service please!
I am looking forward to meeting you on one of this term’s Parents’ evenings 10th & 12th October – booking letter has been sent by Parentmail and paper copy. N.B. if you have difficulty with the on-line link you can make an appointment by contacting the school office.
Protocol for collecting children during the day
A reminder to parents that when collecting your child for whatever reason, between the hours of 8.50am-3.20pm (or later if your child is at an afterschool club), the procedure is always to come up to the school office to sign your child out and then to wait in the office until your child is brought up to meet with you in the office.
Playtime visits – please remember that parents are never allowed to visit their child during a morning or lunch playtime on the pit. If you need to fetch or speak to your child at these times, for whatever reason, please follow the procedure above and make a request to the school office waiting there until your child is brought up to you in the office. As you will understand our staff have a difficult task in keeping your children safe on the common and your support in this is much appreciated.
There has been a significant change to this year’s Crystal Palace cross country arrangements: On Saturday 11th November there will be four races only at this event only year 5 and 6 will compete. Then in March it will be the turn of year 3 and 4 runners, so children will only run once at Crystal Palace this season. The organisers have cited the event’s popularity in forcing them to run two separate competitions. However I still hope that our school will still be able to field a strong team of runners – event letter to come out soon.
Please don’t forget that you can find easy access to information, news, forms and links to our twitter account etc. on: http://www.chislehurstcofe.co.uk/
