Summer Term 2017 NEWSLETTER No. 4
End of School Year 2016-17
My staff and I would like to wish all our families an exciting and restful summer holiday, we very much appreciate the support that we receive from our parental body whether it be through your very generous gifts, marvellous PTA fundraising or involvement in school events – thank you!
Church and community
Our next whole school family service will be held at St Nicholas church at 9am on Thursday 7th September.
Mrs Thackray – leaves us to retire and spend more time with her family, including her five grandchildren. Mrs Thackray joined us in 2004 after retraining to qualify as a teacher following a very successful career as Manager of Faculty of Royal Design for Industry at the Royal Society of Arts. Mrs Thackray wore several ‘hats’ as a teacher: SENCo and family liaison worker, as well as RE and Worship leader successfully achieving the Outstanding grade for CofE SIAMS inspection. Her care and dedication to the children she taught was of the highest order and she was a much valued colleague.
Mrs Doe – although only having been with us in her capacity as a teaching assistant and cover supervisor since October, Mrs Doe came to us having previously been employed as an assistant head at a large secondary school. As well as providing caring classroom support, Mrs Doe has taught French to several classes – being a fluent native speaker. Mrs Doe moves on to further her career in teaching within the primary sector.
Miss Mills – currently one of our valued lunchtime support team, since joining us in June last year, leaves us to further her career as a teaching assistant at a local primary school.
In September we have the pleasure of welcoming Ms Somers, a very experienced teacher, who will be taking on the role of SENCo and family liaison officer, as well as teaching alongside Mrs Forgione in Year1.
Mrs Crispino joins us from Red Hill Primary school as a teaching assistant, initially supporting in year 1 and Mr Horton begins his career in education with us in the role of teaching assistant, initially supporting in year 4. I am sure all three new ‘signings’ will be a huge asset and further strengthen our staff team.
Thank you for your support in making it another successful year for PE and extra-curricular activities.
Club registration is now closed and you will be notified early next term which clubs your child has a place in. Do not forget dark, plain tracksuits are needed for Autumn term sports 2017.
(Miss Barnes – sports leader)
School Lunches – Menu to stay the same for start of next term!
Please can all school meal parents ensure that the child's lunch is pre-ordered from 4th September to 15th December before the start of next term. (Mrs Griffiths)
